Join HCBC!

HCBC is open to rowers of all abilities all year round-we aim to maximise participation for undergraduates and postgraduates at Hertford College within a friendly and relaxed environment. Whether you've never been particularly interested in sports before and are looking for a new challenge, whether you're an experienced schoolboy oarsman, or whether you just fancy a paddle in the sun with some mates and a bit of racing between pints of Pimms, HCBC can cater for you.

Don't worry if you've never rowed before - HCBC has a fantastic record in the annual college novice regatta. Taster sessions for novices are held during Fresher's week. They are designed to simply give you a taste of a sport many people have never tried before coming to Oxford, and hopefully to show you why we all do it! Information and sign-up sheets will be put up in the lodge and around college during Fresher's week, but for any advance questions you may have, or if you missed the sign up, please email the captains.

If you're already comfortable in a boat, HCBC is keen to integrate you into our senior squads. As one of the best equipped boatclubs on the river, we have the facilities and established coaching to allow crews to train hard and go fast. In addition to college bumps racing where all our top boats are in Division 1, we also send crews to the Head of the River Race, Fours Head of the River Race and Henley Royal Regatta, with some good results in recent years.
